The iconic amfAR Gala officially kicks of the fashion festivities of New York Fashion Week. It’s one of the most glittering moments of red carpet season, with the great and the good of the fashion world going all out. This year, it was almost a clean sweep for Versace who dressed the vast majority of attendees – it’s much quicker to put together a list of attendees not wearing Versace than those dressed by Donnatella! Here are my top five looks from the fabulous amfAR Gala:
Naomi Campbell in Atelier Versace
Queen Naomi was a tangerine dream in this exquisite beaded gown. The beading and sheer panels added much needed texture to the simple cut and the thigh high split added sassy drama. One of my favourite looks of the night.
Hilary Rhoda in Brandon Maxwell
Maxwell is one of my favourite American designers so I’m always thrilled to see his looks on the red carpet. Hilary wore the hell out of this unique gown with a backless velvet bodice and simple black skirt with centre split. I’m really obsessed with this look.
Madison Beer in Ashi Studio
This is why i love amfAR, you don’t get glorious fashion moments like this very often on awards show red carpets. This demure yet dramatic gown made a real sartorial statement. I love the colour, the subtle embroidery. Also a huge fan of the simple undo and gentle smoky eye. Perfection.
Zoe Kravitz in Versace
I love that Zoe always remains true to her aesthetic on and off the red carpet – she will always go for an edgy statement rather than a frothy tulle number. This Versace look is stunningly minimal look. I just wish it wasn’t quite so sheer.
Alessandra Ambrosio in Versace
Also in a white Versace gown, Alessandra looked every inch a Victoria’s Secret Angel on the amfAR red carpet. A timeless asymmetric design with clean lines, it was perfectly accessorised with minimal accessories.
