The final red carpet of January! Compared to the Golden Globes, I found this year’s Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet looks a little dull, a few actresses such as Amy Adams and Brie Larson played it far too safe for my liking. There were a few stand out red carpet moments, here are my favourite five looks:
Taraji P Henson in Reem Acra
Taranji absolutely slayed on the red carpet last night! Her Reem Acra dress was perfection made up of 1 part sweet and saccharine and 1 part sultry and sexy. Acra really knocked it out of the park with this dress. I love the colour, the fit and the jewels. The one detail I’m not convinced about are the little black bows, but I love this look so much I’m willing to overlook them.
Emma Stone in Alexander McQueen
I wasn’t a huge fan of Emma Stone’s look at the Golden Globes, hence her unusual absence from my best dressed round up, but I’m glad to see she’s back to form of the SAG Awards in McQueen. There’s something about this pretty dress adorned with flowers giving way to reveal a pretty lace bodice which reminds me of Lee McQueen’s work, albeit softer and more romantic. Accessorised to perfection with a sleek, soft wave.
Natalie Portman in Dior
Best dressed baby bump on the red carpet, Natalie dazzles in Dior. A simple voluminous gown with puffed sleeves is all that’s needed to accentuate Natalie’s glow. A dramatic eye and hair swept off her face finish the simple look.
Kerry Washington in Roberto Cavalli
Kerry is a statuesque beauty in this stunning Cavalli number. A surprisingly simple look from the master of maximalism, the gown features a sleek silhouette with sheer detailing as well as two of the runway’s favourite trends – off the shoulder and fluted sleeves. This is one of Kerry’s best red carpet looks.
Nicole Kidman in Gucci
I feel like Nicole Kidman often plays it safe on the red carpet so it’s nice to see her take a risk in this green, glittering Gucci gown. The colour is perfect on her alabaster skin and I love the dramatic feather detail – very daring for Kidman. I’m glad she kept the hair and make up simple to complement this stunning dress.
