Last week, I popped to the Victoria & Albert museum after hours to celebrate the launch of Oasis’ newest collection, a pretty print-centric collaboration with the V&A.
The V&A holds a special place in my heart. It’s one of my favourite museums and never fails to inspire me, so having the chance to explore it after hours en route to the glittering launch party felt like such a treat. Walking through empty corridors and past glass cabinets holding treasures has to be the best build up to a party ever. The main event was held in a beautiful room with regal red and gold bejewelled columns, huge stained glass windows and a cavernous domed ceiling which was beautifully painted.
The resplendent setting served as the perfect canvas for showing off the collaboration between one of my favourite high street retailers and the V&A. The collection was borne out of a mutual love of print, pattern and colour; I have always gone to Oasis for pretty, feminine prints which are somewhat of a signature.
The collection is based on 11 gorgeous botanical prints from the 18th and 19th century, hand selected from the extensive V&A archives by the Oasis in-house design team. Each print has been carefully re-imagined and styled into contemporary must-have pieces, including covetable coulottes, midi-skirts and dresses as well as the beautiful kimono jacket with matching wide-leg trousers.
The collection is available in store now.
