A couple of months ago, on a dark and chilly winter’s night I went to a little shindig in Soho to celebrate the eagerly awaited launch of ASOS’ beautiful Bridesmaid and Occasion Wear collections. The Class of 2015 party was themed around an end of year college party, but much, much chicer of course. As well as cutthroat shaves from the super cool Nomad Barber, the party had a super cute photo set and models wearing the stunning collection – the most important part of all.
ASOS tends to be my saviour for all occasions, from black tie awards ceremonies right down to girls nights out. The sheer breadth of choice makes it a no brainer; where else can you find floor length, vintage-inspired gowns with pretty 50s style floral dresses and sculptural cut out dresses?
The Occasion Wear collection comprises of a fairly broad selection of gorgeous dresses, perfect for every summer event from garden parties to balls. The collection has a distinctly 50s vibe, with beautiful bell skirted and co-ords and pretty floral prints. I couldn’t help but run my hands over the dresses and their fabric – predominantly organza and lace. The Bridesmaid collection is ASOS’ first foray into wedding attire, with 30 different options available in complementary fabrics, colours and prints.. The collection aims to bring bridesmaid dresses into the 21st century, no matching peach taffeta dresses in sight. A range of silhouettes which cater for different body types form the basis, with the dresses available in floral prints and soft sorbet shades of lilac, mint and lemon with embellishment and contrasting textures for a modern take on bridesmaid dressing.
Here are my favourite looks from the collections:
