Established designers changing tack seems to be a running theme through this season at London Fashion Week. Alongside his contemporaries Mary Katrantzou and Richard Nicoll, David Koma’s spring/summer collection showed a softer, more feminine side to his signature powerful, body-conscious look. Fluid tailoring, soft lemon shades and sheer panels dominated the collection, with enough architectural flourishes to punctuate an edge into the sleek collection; asymmetric hemlines, slices of colour and textured ribbed stripes were a reminder that this is a David Koma collection. The new direction works, I expect to see this collection will be a success on the red carpet, in editorials and more crucially, commercially.
