London Fashion Week: David Koma AW13

David Koma’s autumn/winter 2013 collection is definiteyl one of my favourites of the season. I always look forward to seeing his signature sculptural shapes and embellished accents in action on the catwalk. Inspired by sound, rhythm and movement, the show opened with strong, architectural coats with oversized collars and ribbed leather panels, providing a juxtaposition of textures. Some of the opening looks reminded me of furusistic 90s sci-fi, in a good way. The cyclical detailing and stiff fabrics made for a very commanding, powerful statement. The mostly black collection was interspersed with shots of nude and bold red. Meticulous detailing included ribbed leathers, silver prints, laser cut leather and a sprinkling of shiny zippers. My stand out piece was the cropped biker, absolutely breathtaking. All in all, the collection was perfection and I’d like every single piece, please.
