Today saw the second season launch of London Collections: Men. One of the most eagerly anticipated shows was Topman Design’s showcase of their autumn/winter 2013 collection.
Inspired by gentleman explorers of yesteryear, the collection follows the journey of a nomadic young man who is inspired by the landscapes and cultures he experiences on his travels. Beginning with icy white shades, the traveler is clean and functional but as his journey progresses, he absorbs elements of different cultures which result in a beautiful, rich colour palette with hings of Tibetan prints, relaxed layering and bohemian luxury.
Modern elements early on in the collection such as metallic and lurex make way for sumptuous fabrics in jewel tones. Burnt oranges, deep red and midnight blue are key shades while the parka is the integral piece of the season. Accessories are also key; oversize functional leather rucksacks with leather hip flasks, compass holders and explorer boots complete this look of modern day exploration.
