Who: Rihanna
What: 777 tour – 7 cities, 7 countries, 7 days…via a Boeing 777, naturally.
Where: The Forum, Kentish Town
Verdict: Last week, I was fortunate enough to be invited to Rihanna’s crazy ambitious 777 tour by the lovely guys at HTC. The pop superstar was undertaking a monumental, whirlwind tour of 7 major cities in just 7 days to promote her 7th album – Unapologetic – and it was a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be part of the madness. I say madness, I’d heard awful things about the tour – journalists on the plane were sleep deprived and starving, shows starting over 2 hours late; as the tour gained momentum so did the negative press. Still, I knew I’d enjoy the London show, as long as I wasn’t on Rihannair.
The London show was held at The Forum in Kentish Town, a really intimate venue – perfect for a really personal show. Rihanna was over an hour late (not as bad as the two and a half hour wait Swedish fans had) but she seemed to be on good form, though she didn’t really sing as much as gyrate on stage – it seemed like she knew as many song lyrics as the group of 15 year old girls next to me. When she did sing, her voice was incredible but I’ve seen her live before and she just didn’t seem interested in putting on an incredible show.
Lack of singing aside, it was a great experience; the atmosphere was electric and it was amazing to be part of the 777 extravaganza. Thanks again to the HTC gang, who were sponsors of the tour.
Lol at Rihannair! Loved your honest review 😉 I was quite excited when I saw those pictures of her and realised I had the same bullet bra haha, blogged about it earlier this week!Sam Muses xx
