Chanel’s Little Black Jacket exhibit opens.
Le sigh. Thanks to the wonderful world wide web, news of the
coolest fashion exhibits is at your fingertips but alas not always on your
doorstep. Devastation at missing the McQueen Savage Beauty exhibit at the Met
in New York last year still stings for most of us. The new must-visit
exhibition is also in New York and since it’s the brain child of both Karl
Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld, this is a compulsory trip, kids! The exhibit
brings to life the book “The Little Black Jacket: Chanel’s classic revisited by
Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld” and features a whole host of fashion
favourites styled up by Ms Roitfeld and shot by Mr Lagerfeld. The likes of
Jessica Pare, Joan Smalls, Crystal Renn and Pharrell Williams attended the
opening. If you’re New York-based, the exhibit is on from 8th June
to 15th June at 18 Wooster Street in Soho.
Is Gisele pregnant?
I usually hate the constant celebrity baby bump
watch/pregnancy rumour mill but when it involved the impossibly beautiful
pairing of Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady then I’m all ears! The gossip
magazines have been scrutinising Gisele’s oversize tshirt outfits for weeks and
apparently the couple were spreading the news at the Met Ball.
Paco Rabanne names new creative director.
Little over a month after the surprise departure of Manish
Arora, Paco Rabanne have announced his successor – the little known Lydia
Maurer. Though her name may not be well known, she has worked at both Yves
Saint Laurent and Givenchy before joining Paco Rabanne in late 2011 as head of
their studio. Maurer will show her first collection for SS13 in Paris in
October – I can’t wait to see what she’s got.
Superga x House of Holland.
As a self-confessed high hell addict, there is very little
that can tempt me into flats. A sprinkling of Henry Holland’s cheeky prints may
well convince me though! Featuring a thick, creeper-like sole and pastel
polka dots, leopard print and other signature prints.
Boys and girls at Gaultier’s couture show.
Jean Paul Gaultier has skipped his AW12 menswear show and will
show menswear looks together with his AW12 couture show in July. It will take
the form of a presentation but there has been no confirmation of the final
format. His first ever couture show in 1997.
