A couple of weeks ago, I cryptically mentioned that I have some very exciting projects in the pipeline. It’s been difficult to keep things quiet and not share all the news as it’s happening but patience is a virtue, or so I hear. Well, time has flown and I can finally begin sharing what I’ve been up to behind the scenes. First up is a little appearance in the super Company magazine! Company had an overhaul and relaunched with a brand new look and I’ve got to say, it’s become one of my must-buy magazines so I was so thrilled to collaborate on a feature with them. With all the festival fun about to kick off in the UK, they gave myself and three other bloggers a different festival theme to style up.
My theme was “plane survivor” which was a bit of a challenge to say the least! It actually turned out to be a really great theme to explore and play with. I took my cues from Lost, Tomb Raider and some Destiny’s Child ‘Survivor’ glamour and combined them with some festival favourites.
Denim cutoffs are a perennial festival staple and luckily went pretty well with my theme.I picked a tiny pair of neon pink shorts from Topshop, these certainly aren’t for shrinking violets!! For me, flashes of neon are very necessary for add a zesty zing this summer but I always keep the rest of the outfit very muted to balance it out – neutrals and khaki shades also work well with the theme. I picked a gorgeous billowing, oversize blouse from Gestuz to go with the shorts, the colour neutralises some of the zing and the voluminous shape balances out the tiny shorts. For me, there’s nothing worse than seeing a girl dressed for a rave at a festival!
You can barely see it in the pictures but I found a lovely white studded bralet in Topshop which adds a bit of an edge to the outfit but in a more subtle way under the sheaths of sheer fabric. I finished off my outfit with an old pair of studded boots from Primark and an oversize suede bag from Medwinds. The bag is one of my favourite pieces of the outfit as it’s so practical. I tend to carry the contents of my bathroom cupboard to festivals, from babywipes to sunscreen, so it’s really important to have something big enough to carry everything.
Thank you to the super talented Niran from Yin & Yang for spending a very rainy Saturday morning taking these fantastic images.
Reena you look awesome! Eleanor@Sarenza xxx
