The queue for Ashley Isham’s autumn/winter 2012 show snaked halfway down the road with people eager to view the Singaporean designer’s next collection. Inside the beautiful Goldsmith Hall venue, I spied the likes of Jodie Harsh, Nik Thakkar, Jameela Jamil and someone from Coronation Street (or some other soap…) on the front row. I found myself seated next to Canadian designer Andrew Majtenyi, a piece of serendipitous fate as Andrew’s show was one of the first I attended during London Fashion Week. He now shows in Paris but you should take a look at his site.
Back to Ashley, the show featured his signature couture-esque draping and asymmetric cuts with show stopping Grecian gowns. The colour palette featured shimmery metallics followed by floral and fish scale prints in aquatic shades. Subtle embellishment twinkled in the lights while the short strapless sequin dresses were undeniably glamourous. A white lace piece complete with a headpiece was a highlight.
