There’s a reason why trench coats are so iconic: aside from the classic design, they’re versatile and absolutely perfect for the in-between seasons. At the moment, it’s a bit too nippy to go out without a nice piece of outerwear to keep you toasty but it’s not cold enough to warrant the big thick winter coats which seem to have prematurely invaded shops. I think you can go one of two ways with a trench; either very classic and masculine or modern and girly. I opted for the latter with a fitted, dipped hem belted mac from Love Label at Very. The little details gave it a bit of personality and caught my eye; it’s such a distinctive shape.
The a-line shape is very flattering and with the buttons done up and belt tied, it gave me a lovely hourglass shape, accentuated by the fluted dipped hem. One of my pet hates with coats is that the sleeves are usually a little too short but the sleeves of the Love Label mac were perfect – no cold wrists for me! The collar is nice and high and the pockets were absolutely huge, easily accommodating my two phones, headphones and big bunch of keys.
One of my favourite details was the polkadot lining, just one of the little details which makes this a fun, girly coat. As the back is slightly longer than the front, you get a wee flash of polkadot from the front; it’s a clever little detail. I’ve had a couple of coats which have a lovely lining but sadly they hardly get seen/appreciated. I dressed it up with heels and a floral dress as I was at work, but I’ve worn it with flats and it’s still looked great. I think the shorter length at the front stops it from looking frumpy which can be the danger of wearing a trench coat with flats.
The mac costs £59 and is available from Very. I was really impressed with the quality of the buttons and fabric. I’ve been caught in a few showers while wearing it and thankfully the rain didn’t soak through the fabric like it did with my old ASOS trench. I absolutely adore this coat, it’s made the transition into Autumn a little less traumatic. In fact, I love it so much I’m adding the stone version to my wish list!
I love the dipped hem!
The trench coat looks amazing on you. I've been on the hunt for a perfect trench. I can't believe Very hadn't crossed my mind!!
Yeah, you're right, polka-dot lining is a nice touch.p.s. You have great legs 😛
I love how it falls longer at the back. Soo glam but still very wearable xx
That is a great coat! I too like the lining and its mullet like a line cut! 🙂 Looks great on you!♡ from © tanvii.com
