The Jil Sander campaign was shot by Willy Vanderperre and features Daria Strokous for the second time along Guerrino in this bold, dark campaign. I think the overall look works well as it’s highly impactful and is a seamless continuation of the clean Jil Sander aesthetic. The sharp shots of colour add interest and I love the long, languid shapes draped over furniture – it’s a bit surreal and reminds me a little of Salvador Dali’s work.
The Jean Paul Gaultier autumn/winter 2011 campaign was shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin and features the stunning Kristien McMenamy…it is also the second AW11 campaign to be styled by Carine Roitfeld. I think the campaign is taking Gaultier in a different direction and has all the Roitfeld trademarks, super sexy and slightly dishevelled looking. The clothing and posing don’t really do much for me though.
The Prada autumn/winter 2011 campaign was shot by Steven Meisel and features a surprising cast of Kelly Mitendorf, Antonia Wesseloh, Frida Gustavsson and Ondria Hardin. Though the colour palette is soft in the Kelly and Antonia image (slightly more punchy in the Frida and Ondria image), the campaign is quite impactful. There have been criticisms about this campaign, namely that the models are expressionless and the image feels flat. I can see where this criticism is coming from but I like the campaign, it’s fresher and younger. Though I think perhaps the models look a tad too young and maybe a bit more appropriate for Miu Miu…who have gone for the even younger Hailee Steinfield.
The Prada campaign is gorgeous! I love the shots-even though the models may be more fitted for Miu Miu, I think they look incredible. xoxoMeera
Erm… as much as I love and welcome back Kirsten McNemany, I'm getting so bored of seeing the same old same kind of styling of her. The campaign looks to much like the Steven Meisel Vogue Italia she did a couple of years ago… Boring now! Jil Sanders campaign, well as much as i loved Jil Sanders the designer, in-fact after a few comme des garcon t'shirts i bought when I was 17, she was my first designer purchase, I've never got used to the fact that Jil Sanders is no longer Jil Sanders, and because I grew up in the era of the supermodel, the shots by Nick Knight & Peter Lindberg are so clear in my mind, this campaign doesn't evoke anything in me. As both ReeRee and i would say it's meeeh. Prada, ok, People at Prada, come on, your key target customer is a the 30 plus women who is confident & strong, in this campaign, they're girls, I mean they barely look 13. Maybe Prada should stop giving so much power to Steven Meisel when booking the girls, because the lines between Miu Miu & Prada are so blurred now, you wouldn't know when one stopped and the other finished. But on the positive side… It's Frida Gustavason, whom I'm officially in love with! YAY FRIDA!
nice campaigns 🙂
