I’m not going to pretend I’m actually excited about the results of awards shows, apart from any wins for Black Swan. As shallow as it sounds, for me it’s all about the fashion. The Globes are a good starting point, celebrities have really started making effort for them and they’re a good indicator for trends for the upcoming awards as well as who to look out for the the daddy of all awards ceremonies – the Oscars – take place. So far, two main colour trends have emerged – nude and pink. Green gowns were surprised common and predictably black also made an appearance. Thankfully, it seems like we’ve almost seen the back of those horrid fishtail gowns. The one shoulder look is still a winner, but it faces strong competition from the more demure full sleeve silhouette. Who’s your best dressed?
I think Lea Michelle looked lovely in her Oscar de la Renta, the colour really suited her skin tone and it was fun and girly but still sophisticated. Claire Danes looks simple and understated in Calvin Klein, I’m glad she kept the accessories simple too. This might be controversial but I don’t think Julianne Moore pulls off this Lanvin dress at all and the least her stylist could have done was make sure it was ironed!
Megan Fox just looks stunning in Armani Prive, I do hope she switches it up a little as the long gown goddess look is starting to get a little boring. My pretty in pink favourite is definitely Natalie Portman, who surprisingly wore Viktor & Rolf rather than Rodarte.
Scarlett Johansson actually looks nude at first glance! Her Elie Saab gown is almost a spot on match for her skin tone. I think the winged sleeves could have gone horribly wrong but it works and Scarlett looks gorgeously elegant. Nicole never really seems to get it right on the red carpet but I do like this one shoulder Prada gown on her, like though not love. I know what you’re thinking, Sandra Bullock stole my bangs! Love her Jenny Packham dress I think, I can’t tell properly because the hair just looks too odd and edgy for such a pretty dress.
My second favourite nude look is Leighton Meester in long sleeved, demure Burberry. I’m not 100% convinced that the colour suits her but the slightly puffed sleeve, gently nipped in waist and impeccable accessories have sold it to me. Anna Wintour, I think you may have backed the wrong Gossip Girl! Oooh look who’s gone a little edgy on us it’s Anne Hathaway. This Armani Prive gown works on the pretty girl next door, I love the bling and statement shoulders.
At first, I loved Mila Kunis in her bottle green Vera Wang gown, but the more I look at it the more ordinary it seems. She’s just so gorgeous she makes anything look good. I do love the colour, especially with her skin tone. Hold the front page, Angie in non-black shocker! She looks really good in colour but the fabric of her Versace gown looks slightly cheap, I’m sure I’ve seen something similar on a market stall! Christina Hendricks was the biggest fashion fail of the night for me. Her Romona Keveza gown is gorgeous but the ruffles don’t work with her curves, it seems like she’s trying to disguise them! I much prefer her in a dress which skims and accentuates her amazing figure.
January Jones is at the other end of the scale in her barely there Versace gown. It’s not everyone’s cup of chai but I love it. I usually love Eva Longoria’s choices on the red carpet but she’s gone from gorgeous to goth in the blink of an eye..and a Zac Posen gown. I think if it was another colour it would just about work. And last but not least: Halle Berry. She’s supposedly wearing a Nina Ricci gown, but I’m pretty sure someone stepped on the train and tore most of it off. Luckily she was wearing some M&S shapewear to protect her modesty..!
Anne Hathway, Mila Kunis, & January Jones were my absolute faves. I think with a touch of editing on Halle Berry's dress I'd love it.KeepItFvncy,M.E.

Hathaway's dress is the one I'd want for myself!
I loved Olivia Wilde's dress too! It was a pit puffy but I love me some sparkle 🙂
