Alexander Wang’s accessories for Spring/Summer 2011 made me feel a little giddy inside. Yes I’m a shoe girl, but it’s not often that accessories elicit the same giddyness usually reserved for couture. The accessories aren’t stunningly beautiful but they were just so distinct. Alexander Wang has literally lightened up for next season, using off-whites, khakis and beige/biscuit tones rather than his usual moody, dark hues. Fitting in with his theme of a construction site gone awry, there was a definite functional, practical aesthetic. Heels are chunky, sensible straps and tool bag like bags with paint splatters.
