I think it’s time to pack away the skirts and dresses and get the trousers out. For once, this is not due to the weather. It’s due to boredom. I remember when dresses first hit the mainstream, they automatically turned into a no brainer, super easy peasy outfit choice. No more thinking about top AND bottom, it was revolutionary. But now, a few seasons on I’m starting to get a little bored of them. Skirts are also getting a bit yawnsome too. Every second people I pass on the street is wearing a maxi dress or floral skirt.
I’ve been turning to trousers more and more these days, I pretty much live in my Topshop military harems. They’re perfect for dressing down with a slouchy oversize cardi for work as well as dressing up with lace top and killer heels for a night out. Here are my top picks to tempt you into trousers:
New Look zip harems – £25. These babys will take you from work to a bar in a jiffy. Chuck on some heels, add some accessories and you’ll be good to go. They’ll also be perfect for the military trend this Autumn.
Warehouse paperbag waist harems – £45. These exude grown up glamour. I would team with pale colours and carry nudes into Autumn. The tie waist is begging to be tied into a pretty bow.
Pa:nuu slouch velvet track pants – £45. Velvet and texture will be huge next season so get in early with these bad boys. They look mega comfy but can easily be dressed up as they’re velvet.
J Brand Houlihan cargo pants – £245. I love the high waist and roll up. Like the New Look harems, these will be absolutely perfect for the military look, as well as a few embellishments.
McQ by Alexander McQueen digital print harems – £110. Utterly stunning! Printed trousers aren’t to everyone’s taste but if you’re brave enough they will look gorgeous on.
Love the cargo pants (:

Fabulous selections, darling!I am loving harem pants right now!xoxox,CC
Haha you'd hate it in LA then, most of us wear jeans…all the time. Unless you work in a sophisticated LA office and need to dress up.
I never stopped wearing pants -with this cold climate there's no choice -literally.juliet xxx
After a summer of skirts i'm really looking forward to an autumn full of beautiful trousers. I love jeans but i'm looking forward to seeing this more sophisticated look reflected on the high street.x
I know what you mean about maxi dresses, I don't like wearing the same as everyone else.I just can't wear harem pants as they look awful on me. I love the J Brand Houlihan cargo pants though.
I Haven't Worn a Skirt For A Few Weeks Now, It's So Heartbreaking.Following Your Blog!StyleNonsense.blogspot.com
i have to agree with you, everyone in the high street is wearing floral skirts, this trend is too boring now, love the choices of harem trousers you have picked out x

It's funny, I couldn't really remember a time before dresses–until I read this. ;)I truly love dresses though; I find them more comfortable than pants. However, I too find myself getting bored with dresses and wearing pants more often. Great post!P.S. Thanks for the comment on my blog!
Nooo! I love skirts and dresses! Please don't let them fall out of fashion,, in favour of trousers. By bum is too big!
