Most people who know me know I’m not into menswear. It just isn’t as versatile as womenswear and certainly doesn’t have the same potential to mix things up either…cropped tee layered over a maxi dress with an oversize cardi, anyone?! Previously, my only interest to date has been lusting after the odd AllSaints tee. However, having had a few sneaky peeks on style.com have piqued my interest, to say the least.
I’ve become a fan of Versace womenswear over the past few seasons, and have now discovered that the menswear side of the business is gaining momentum. New man on the block Martyn Bal, formerly Dior Homme, is appealing to a new, younger clientèle with his modish tailoring and nod to the eighties. He is of course inspired by the archives as well as Bruce Weber’s photography for the house during the eighties. The suits were one of my favourite looks from this collection, subtly altered for summer with shortened sleeves and slim fitting trousers rolled up at the ankle. Shiny fabrics, faux-bibbed shirts and optical prints on fabrics make this a surprisingly sumptuous men’s collection.
i'm getting into menswear this season too, did you watch the prada show? great use of colour- and the platform shoes, i want a pair!also coming round to the versace side of things, i used to consider it chavvy but i've seen the light now!
great post!
Yes love the style of this menswear collection, I could't wear it myself as I am petite and have enough trouble getting womensweat to fit but would great if I could persuade the hubs to wear this.
