Not to sound smug, but I’ve had the most blissful weekend ever! The Boy surprised me with a little weekend away in the town I call my playground – London. Stay with me here, it wasn’t your average weekend jaunt to London, oh no, it was 5*, luxe London and every minute was perfect. We stayed at the sumptuous St Martin’s Lane hotel, which is owned by the Morgans Hotel Group – the inventors of the boutique hotel. They also own The Sanderson hotel but I prefer St Martin’s Lane as it’s a little more under the radar than its glamourous big sister hotel. Situated on the lovely St Martin’s Lane, the hotel is ideally situated for pretty much everything, it’s nestled between Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden and Leicester Square but the hotel itself is so quiet, you could hear a pin drop…on the thick, plush carpet.
The room was incredible; it honestly took my breath away. I’d seen a snapshot as the hotel was featured in Layer Cake, but it did not prepare me for how breathtaking the room is. The room was a palace compared to the usual shoebox-sized rooms in London hotels. The high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows AND doors further heightened the feeling of space. The bed was exactly what you would want from a hotel bed: massive and super comfortable. The unique part of the room is that you have your own coloured lighting controls so you can alter the whole ambiance of the room. The decor is white so it’s the perfect blank canvas.
I know some people tend to avoid boutiques and 5* hotels as the staff can be a little snooty but honestly, the staff at St Martin’s Lane were so friendly and helpful, they really went the extra mile to ensure we had a special stay. I felt a little poorly on the second night and they even bought up some DVDs with our room service order, which was delicious by the way. The hotel is also home to the famous Cuba de Asia restaurant, perfect if you can’t bear to tear yourself away from the hotel. All in all, I had such a great time at St Martin’s Lane hotel, it’s only been a couple of days and I’m dying to go back. I’d thoroughly recommend it to anyone for a special weekend in London.

Hi! First of all, thanks for your comment! Well, that effect I do on my pictures is so easy you can’t even imagine. I use a programm named Photofiltre 🙂 There, you just have to surround what you want to mantain colored with your mouse (by putting in the mode ‘polygon’ after clicking once in the mouse’s right side) and then you just have to select ‘invert selection’ and you do whatever you want to the rest of the picture except that part you surrounded 🙂 I’m sorry about my english but it tryed to explain the best way I could! It’s very easy though, you can ask me anything you want to about it ;)Take care! xxxJoanne
