The last ever Fashion Fix for 2008! So what’s going on in the world of fashion as we prepare to say goodbye to 2008?
Beyonce the Fashionista?
So Beyonce is still on this little fashionista-wannabe mission. In her latest video ‘Diva’, B is still rockin Gareth Pugh. She was first spotted in Pugh for the MTV Europe Music Awards, raising eyebrows as it was a surprising departure from her usual awards get up – tight, low cut and sparkly. I’m not quite sure what to make of this, on one hand I think it’s brilliant that Pugh will get so much publicity, being a small, new-ish label. On the other hand, Beyonce and Pugh doesn’t quite sit right it seems to be a bit of an awkward fit. The video is awesome though, particularly those fringed sunglasses. Not sure if I like them more than Margiela’s L’incognito sunglasses though!
Whitney in the City
From what I gather, this has already aired in the US, but it has yet to arrive in the UK. We all know that The Hills is scripted, fake genius (totally addicted to it), and it seems Whitney Port’s spinoff The City is much of the same. Apparently she’s never really there and the filming crew make normal employees’ lives a nightmare. From being unable to move things on their own desks to the constant paparazzi, seems like life is not rosey at DVF. Gonna sound very shallow, but I don’t really care about those dramas, I’m more interesting in Olivia Palermo, who’s been shooting Whitney bitchy looks in the adverts. A real-life Amanda? Let’s hope so, please let there be a real-life Marc too!!
Bill Blass Bought
Very good news for Bill Blass, Peacock International Holdings has bought the firm for the bargain basement price of $10 million. There are plans to revive the couture line within 9-12 months and they have ideas of who they want to design the line, so watch this space…
Chanel Crisis
Ok crisis may be a bit strong, but this is still pretty major. I’m still devastated about Chanel’s decision to pull the amazing mobile art exhibition before it reaches London…and now the fashion powerhouse has announced plans to cut 200 workers, 10% of it’s production team. Some are calling this the worst crisis since Coco herself let the entire staff go in 1939, the beginning of the war. This decision comes among several stories of major fashion houses bracing themselves as the Credit Crunch bites. Prada recently shocked Milan by placing sale signs in the windows…
More from the Campaign Trail
Gonna whizz through these. Kate Moss is the new face of Fred Joaillier, shot by Patrick Demarchelier. Christy Turlington is the face of Bally Spring 09 and Daisy Lowe is the new face of Marc by Marc, shot by Juergen Teller. Now feast your eyes…
Gone Shoppin’
Normal activity shall resume with many, many outfit posts (I promise), but for now I’m busy, busy with the sales.

i love the video of Beyonce and hope the Chanel crisis doesn’t grow!!
Awww man! I was gonna post about Beyonce/Gareth Pugh and Lady Gaga/Roisin Murphy/Grace Jones on my blog, thinking I’m all original…and you beat me, lol. Great post.Kate Moss looks as gorgeous as 1998, seriously. I know she’s not old or anything, but I can’t believe she’s been around 10+ years.I hope Chanel is on sale when I head to Paris/London in the spring! That’d be beyond fab, but only b/c I’m not worried about it going under. It’s too much of a classic!

Happy New Year!!!! I’m waiting for the first 2009 fashion fix!
I’m not sure if Beyonce/Garath Pugh sits right with me either, but I guess we’ll see if she continues in that direction or goes back to the more usual pop star type outfits.Great post and good luck with the shopping. I spent all my money on Boxing Day alone…
I am worried about the chanel crisis!!! Happy new year though ๐
Never really watched "The Hills", (not really my thing, too much drama that could be avoided if you ask me! ๐ That's reality TV for ya, though! ;)) but must confess I did watch the second episode of "The City" because someone I knew was in it. I'm a little suprised DVF agreed to let Whitney do the whole show there and all… I'd avoid an reality show at all costs, but that's just me, I guess! ;)Anyway thanks for your comment, and hope you have a wonderful New Year! <3xoxo,S-C
Happy new year 2009!Whitney is my favorite from the Hills, But I still don’t think it really be worth it.juliet xxx
Happy new year sweetie,I hope it’s a great one for you x
happy new year! The City is scripted genius as well! loved the first two episodes but not sure its going to do as well as the hills
Never thought Beyonce and fashion would go together, but anything from her usual sequined get-up is a good thing.
