I’ve got to confess, as much as I love fashion, I just don’t pay too much attention to menswear. Sure, I mooch around the menswear section from time to time and find a manbag to covet or toy with the idea of buying some slouchy men’s trousers…but I don’t know what’s new and hot or pay attention to the shows. I just like what I like. The Boy is also mostly ignorant of menswear fashions, actually make that fashion in general. But that’s ok, I have enough clothes for both of us. Anyway, I digress. The Boy has been suit shopping, on his own. Usually, him shopping completely by himself is a scary thought. But he has done well, I thought he would probably stick with a boring black suit but he has bought a lovely charcoal grey suit. I’ve got to say, I’m impressed. The rest of it was a struggle. Again, long distance relationships suck, imagine trying to explain a shade of blue to a boy over the phone or trying to describe what kind of tie would look good. But I think he’s done very well. Not that I actually know what makes a good suit…I just like when the shirt picks up one colour on the tie and the cuffs of the shirt are *just* longer than the blazer. Oh and perhaps a little handkerchief in the pocket. It’s all in the details. Someone who does know a good suit is Scott Schuman. The following pictures can all be found on his blog The Sartorialist.
I love going suit shopping!! I like the colour of that suit, but I’m rather scared by what looks like a high break for a one button suit, but maybe it’s just the photograph.
A good suit definately makes the man!
your boy did good:)
Dapper – no no it’s just his silly photo. it’s a two button jacket! Thanks Pam…I think he did good. He sent me a photo and I think the jacket needs to be a bit shorter. Wish I hadn’t said it though cause he got so angry at me!Charlotte – men in suits = yum!
